The Old Rugged Cross

Easter is two weeks away and in church today we sang one of my favorite songs...THE OLD RUGGED CROSS. When I was trying to decide what I wanted to put on my front door for Easter this year...the idea of a CROSS with a frame came to mind and this is how it looks. My CROSS might not look rugged but it reminds me daily that Christ died for us and when I see it there on my door...my heart is filled with joy...because one day I will get to meet him...what a wonderful day that will be!I found the frame in the clearance section...$23.99...I paid $4.80!I got the cross for $6.00 with a 40% off coupon...I love that you can print as many Hobby Lobby coupons that you want...I never pay full price at HL!

Don't forget to get your THRIFTY goodies ready for NIFTY THRIFTY TUESDAYS...hope to see you there!

That is so pretty. I have a Hobby Lobby about 3 miles from my home. Every Sunday I print several of their coupons off. I scour their clearance rows, too. You did great.

I am with Cindy, I tear up when I hear that sweet old hymn, but I do love it.

That was a great idea to use the cross in the frame on your door. It's lovely.

I so did not know that you could use more than one coupon per visit at HL.

Thank you!! For some reason I always think of my Grandma and Grandpa when I sing The Old Rugged Cross. I don't have any exact memories, but we must have sung it in their church often:) Probably on Easter!

I was touched by a song in church this morning too...if you want to read the start of my "story"...the post is called "Thank You God for Loving Me"

I bought a cross to go on my front door at Easter, but have yet to paint it cream yet. It is brown. I want to put flowers on mine, but can't decided what kind, so until then, I wait. Your's looks great though.

That looks great! I have quite a few crosses that I have bought from Hobby Lobby. They are still packed away from our move. I had them all hanging on my old potting shed and think I might get them out and hang them on my new chicken coop this spring!

This is weird, I too have a cross that I got at HL after Christmas Clearance with a verse on it, and I bought some paper to cover it and make it usable during more seasons. I didn't know what to do with it/where to put it until now. Thanks for sharing this! Yay! I have a project today ;)
Blessings!

Linda,

Thank you for this post -- the reason for the season. Your cross is stunning and I have no doubt those that approach your doorway all pause to reflect and whisper Thank you.
You certainly know how to get the best deals!

God certainly gave you the gift of creativity. Not only do you feel God's love when you see your cross on the door, but anyone else who passes by will also be blessed by this ornamentation. You found some great sales and put together something totally unique and beautiful. I'm so glad that you shared this with us at the Boardwalk Bragfest. I'm going to take a look at the party which you have on Tuesdays. I wasn't aware of it!
