Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays No.57 and a Winner

First just let me say...I'm sorry that I am late for my own party...been sick since Friday...so this old gal is moving really slow...if you are over 50...then you know what I mean. Last week I told you that I would share with you a new THRIFTY purchase that I made for my kitchen...so I'm keeping my word. With this said...what was my purchase? It's a bamboo kitchen island with a stainless top on it. I have been looking for just the right island and I'm so glad that I didn't settle for just any island...it's always best to wait for the perfect one and this one has everything that I was looking for. I had a price range that I was willing to pay for this piece and I wanted plenty of storage space (this was the main reason I wanted to add one to my kitchen)...this baby had it all and more. This was the last one in the store, so it was their floor sample...they discount their samples by 20%...yes NIFTY THRIFTY LINDA got an awesome deal and that made her one happy gal! Now I also have another treasure to share with y'all this week...it's a 3 gallon MASON JAR (no lid)...price...FREE!!!! Yes...lucky me got this goodie for FREE...I do have a problem concerning this item...just what do I do with it? I have a few ideas, but I would love to hear what all of y'all think...so get creative and help this old gal out. Okay now who is the WINNER of that darling APRON that Becky over at CLASSY SASSY COUTURE donated for last weeks giveaway...she is...Donna and her blog is SUGAR, SPICE AND SOUTHERN LIFE...congrats Donna!!! We will all be over for dinner on Friday...I guess that will be okay...just let us know what time dinner will be served..he he!!! Now I want to see what you have been up to and ladies go visit around with other participants, after all you are at a PARTY!!!!
Thanks for coming and invite you
friends to come along with ya,
                                                               Linda

Here she is...oh how I love her!!!!
                                               Just the perfect size!!!
                                                         Look at her shiny top!!!
She even holds some of my utensils.

Look at all the storage space...it has two of these!
Two drawers that are perfect for kitchen towels.

Now this is one BIG MAMA!!!!
Okay...now give me some neat ideas!!!
****Please everyone, follow these guidelines!****

1. Be sure to refer back to my blog so everyone can see who is participating today, include the NTT button in your post (copy and paste the html code under the button…the button is located on my sidebar). Please make sure that you have put my NTT button or my blog name with a link on your post where it is easy for others to find it...the more people at the party...the more fun we will all have here.

2. This party is for sharing thrifty finds from garage sales, thrift stores, consignment shops, craigslist and even those awesome deals that you find at any retail store. Also you can share any thrifty DIY projects...love seeing what y'all can make on a dime!

3. Please go and visit the other participates and leave a comment about their treasures and thrifty ideas…this is what makes the PAR-TAY so much FUN and what a great way to meet new friends. I would love for you to add yourself as a follower if you haven't already and please let me know, I love to know when I have a new friend. I appreciate all your comments, they really make my day.

I hate you've been sick. I'm in the over 50 crowd AND I've had the flu so I can honestly say "I feel for you!"....

That is some gorgeous island and I couldn't tell you what to do with that Mason jar. I would probably throw change in it and then cash it in to go on vacation. Hope you're feeling better.

I love this island and its stainless steel top and loads of storage. Who can't use more storage. I'm sure you're so glad you waited for just the right one. Yep, that's one enormous jar. Hmm, I'd be tempted to fill it with something vintage. shells, buttons, spools of thread, lace?
Hope you get to feeling better. Yes, I know what you mean, I'm in the club:)

The island looks fantastic....I have issues w/ mixing and matching wood tones....you made me change my mind. The big old mason jar...yikes that's a whole lot of pricey sunflowers or hydrangeas! But imagine how crazy pretty it would look.

How VERY nice for you. I'm still looking for my island: actually, I think it will have to be built b/c my current one has my sink and dishwasher in it; but it's really cheaply made. It will be a few years before I get one though: we're getting the back porch enclosed right now: need more space more. But yours is super. Happy you found what you wanted! Thanks for the fun party!!!

Hi Linda! Sorry you have not been feeling well and I hope you get better soon. The island is perfect for your kitchen and I love the beadboard cabinet fronts. I would fill the jar with sea shells, buttons or any vintage items. It would also be pretty filled with flowers.

LOVE the island ~ fabulous. My mother-in-law has a similar jar, she filled it with vintage wooden kitchen gadgets and balls of kitchen twine, the contrast in texture and color in the jar looks fantastic. I love it so much that I've been on a hunt for my own. Thanks for hosting such a fun linky ~ life has been busy, so I haven't been able to join in for some time ~ excited that I could join in on the fun today!

The island is fantastic! I really like the stainless top, but you can't cut directly on that, can you? I'm not familiar with stainless as a counter top, but it is so pretty. I think you could fill that beauty of a mason jar with just about anything & it would be gorgeous. You could always add a cloth cover, making it like a shower cap with elastic in it for easy on & off, or simply cut the circle with pinkers & use ribbon to tie it on. You could change out the top seasonally or have it coordinate with whatever you decide to put inside. Please, stop me now, mine mind is spinning with possibilities!
