Thrifty Flooring...The Reveal

I feel very lucky to own beach front property...our lord has really blessed my family and given us this wonderful home for us to enjoy. We purchased this condo back in 2003 and at that time, I never really thought that we would keep it this long, but we have and I am sure glad we still call it HOME. While eating our dinner tonight, just look at the view we had, it just doesn't get any better than this! Okay, I'm sure that you are here because you want to see the reveal of my THRIFTY FLOORING...right? Well, we are all finish and here they are! Sorry that the pics are not better, but it was after dark and we don't have very good lighting in this room.
So happy that you came by,
                                               Linda

                                      Our Lord at work!
The finished room!!!
TOTAL cost...$240.
This is a very SMALL bedroom and
most of the floor is hidden by furniture,
so that was the reason that I went the
                            THRIFTY route on this flooring.
                                Oh no...looks like I didn't do a real
good job mopping...I guess I was
just worn out! Now don't look to the
left, okay I knew you would:) We
know we still have a small piece of
molding to install, but we forgot to
bring the correct saw with us...next
                                                      trip!
The look and feel of handscraped
                                wood floors for just pennies.
I don't think that I would put these
in just any room, but I do think that
they are perfect for some places, like
                                      this coastal bedroom.
I purchased the flooring at THE FLOOR TRADER...click
                                     here...for their website.
Never thought that peel and stick
could look and feel this good...
                                learn something new every day.
                               So very EASY to install!!!
Best tip that I can give you is, make sure that
your first row is on a straight line. We used a
                                            chalk line.
All beach homes need a grass skirt...

and some seashells...don't you think?

It looks great. The end result puts the thrift in thrifty!

I'd be happy to come look at the floor during the day and report back to blogland. It's the guest room right? I won't look at the view, I promise.

Your room looks great! The beach, by the way, is my happy place. Any beach any where. How blessed you are to have this retreat and I see you don't hesitate to give God the glory for His goodness. Made me smile to read your post. Oh, and the flooring?, I'm so grateful that you posted this. I need a thrifty fix for a basement floor and I think this will do the trick. I'm going to pin it to my pinterest board. Blessings and Thanks, Tina

I worked for a big-box home improvement store for a long time. The flooring that always came back was the pricey wood stuff. Folks loved the simple-to-install laminates. Yours is a great color & I especially love love the hula bed skirt. You go beach girl you go :D

I love the floor Linda, it is perfect. I never would have spotted that molding till you said don't look left! And I love the seagrass headboard and where on earth did you get that cute grass skirt for your bed what a cute idea! You captured a gorgeous sunset, I know what you mean, sometimes I have to pinch myself being so close to the water, I get to see the sun rise over it. from my cottage, and in florida, a short hop to the beach to see it set! You must be set on a great angle there to see the sun set., here in the east. Are you in the Outer Banks?God certainly has blessed us both.

BOY does that look gorgeous Linda. We are researching floors for our bedroom. I just do not know what I want, and I for certain know my husband is not tackling this job. Yours turned out gorgeous!

Love it!! This would be so fabulous in a bathroom as well since it's vinyl. Great job installing it and it looks very "real"!

It really does look good!

In a previous job, I inspected renovated condos. Many of the "better" places used this kind of vinyl flooring. In talking with the contractors and decorators, they all said they really liked working with this flooring and how well it wore. I was told that many of the department stores with "hardwood" flooring is really vinyl, like this.

Andrea | HomageStyle.com said...

Looks great! What a terrific way to make a big impact with a smaller dollar amount than hardwood!

So excited to see this! We are about to use the same thing in our playroom. Kids + dogs + snow and rain + mud = the need for vinyl floors!

andrea@townandprairie said...

I laid vinyl plank in our mudroom this past summer and have never been happier! I've laid a lot of floor in my time, and this was SO EASY! andrea@townandprairie

Wow! So many amazing things to see here! First and foremost, I love the sunset you're privileged to witness. I am blessed to see glistening white snow and frosted ice and sitting by a roaring warm fire.

I think the grass bedskirt is daaaaarling! And that new flooring is very cool! It looks wonderful!

Never thought of that. Your bedroom looks soooo stinkin' sweet! GREAT job! :)

I used a product like this on my stairs. Took the carpet off the stairs and there was builder grade wood under it...not much I could do so I put this on top. I love it. Thanks for sharing, the floor looks great.

It looks lovely for a lovely price! Inside and outside is gorgeous, too!
We did an outdoor porch we made into our den and didn't want to spend alot. My hubby got wide white pine floor boards, stained them cherry, varnished them, and installed them. He finished them outside on the driveway and it rained and got them wet and some warped some, but we were after an old look anyway. Yes, the wood is soft, but the price was right, it is beautiful, and looks like floors in Europe. Most wide boards are very pricey, so...
Amazing how you can come up with a beautful look with little money.
Thanks for sharing your pretty place!
