A Miracle Happened On 8/29/14

I don't know about you, but I believe in miracles. Around 5:00 p.m. on 8/29/14, a miracle happened and it was because my two daughters lives were spared in a head on collision. Our almighty God had his hands on them and because of that, they are here with us today. Thursday morning Mr.CC and I left home for a long weekend holiday. This trip was all about kicking off the college football season and watching our Auburn Tigers play there first game. We were staying at a friends condo at Lake Martin, so a little bit of lake fun, was also part of our plans. Our daughters were joining us there, when they got off from work Friday afternoon. As they were headed north on the interstate, a truck that was headed south, had a tire blowout and it caused the driver to loose control and cross the interstate and hit my daughters car head on.  Haley and Mary Claire, are both very sore and bruised, but the x-rays didn't show any broken bones. They are both going to be checked out again on Tuesday, just to play it safe. We don't have any info about the condition of the other people involved in accident, at this time. I am sharing this story with you today because I want to reach out to anybody who doesn't wear a seat belt...PLEASE BUCKLE-UP!!! Seat belts save lives y'all...just ask my two girls. If my daughters had not had their seat belts on Friday, they would not be here today. They were both told by all the emergency personnel that attended to them, that without their seat belts, they would had been thrown out of the windshield and we all know what that outcome would have been. Mary Claire (Haley was the driver) was able to call us right after the collision and when she told me what had happened, all I could think about was, how blessed I was. Yes, I was extremely blessed that I was speaking to her and that both of my children had just survived a high speed head on collision. To everyone's surprised, I stayed fairly calm. We called our son-in-law and other family members and hit the road toward them. I would like thank my dear friend Rhonda from the blog...Blue Creek Home. Rhonda and her husband helped us load our car and get off. The three hour trip was the longest trip ever for the two of us. We were so lucky that several of our family members stepped in and rushed to the hospital, since we were so far away. We will be forever grateful, to all of them. Also, I would like to express my gratitude to Mary Claire's sweet friend Leslie. Leslie and Mary Claire were talking to each other on the phone when the accident occurred. Yes, poor Leslie heard the screams and collision, as she was driving about ten miles behind them. She put on her emergency flashers, got in the emergency lane  and headed to the scene. Another reason that we were blessed. Having Leslie there with them, I know helped keep them calm and we were in direct contact with her. After a close call like this, things change for sure. I love my blog, but I have decided to take a short break from it. I don't know if it will be a week or three weeks, but I will be back!! All I want to do right now is, spend time with my family. I do want to thank everyone who has reached out to me in the past few days. Your prayers have been felt and your comments mean the world to me.
                                                       Blessings,
                                                          Linda
It melted my heart, when they told me that they were
holding hands, as they were strapped down on stretchers
in the ambulance...these two have always been so very
                                      close and they still are!

If you know someone who doesn't buckle up,
please share this story with them and beg them
                                               to start today!!!!!

This is my daughters Toyota Camry.

Thank you Lord, for keeping my
sweet girls safe during this tragic
accident. I know you must have
BIG plans for them on this earth.

WOW- so grateful they are safe. and it looks like that car did it's job well, too with the way it took the impact and protected the windshield.

I do believe in miracles Linda! Oh my heart. When I read your account I sensed the emotion of the time and how God kept your girls calm, brought their friend along as well. (I can't even imagine the terror she felt.) The fact that they took the impact head on and not on an angle is amazing. That alone was huge. God definitely preserved them and for that I rejoice with you.
Big big hugs to you friend!!

I could barely stand to look at the photo of the accident - you certainly have something to celebrate today - (how easily life could have changed in a horrific way is so terrifying ). That your daughters held hands melted my heart.............

Wow, that's quite an impact. They must have been terrified seeing it coming. I'm impressed that a car that size did so well in protecting its passengers, but thank goodness it did!

What a scary story, I am so happy they are ok. A seatbelt saved my life once when a mustang I was a passenger in was sideswiped on the passenger side. The car was totaled. I was sore but in one piece without even any major injuries. Seatbelts do save lives!

Linda,
Yes, you are very blessing indeed! And thank God your daughters are safe but please make sure they are checked out again and even by your family Dr. because things may take a bit of time to show up in such an accident.
I too had a similar accident where my life flashed before my eyes and I thought I would never see my son and husband again. It was years ago but I never go anywhere without a seat belt and I thank God every day that I am still here and have been able to watch my sons grow up...

I understand completely about taking a break. Sometimes we are all reminded of our priorities and blogging is not a big one in the Scheme of life!

Enjoy your family and Thank God for them..

Hugs,
Deb

So glad to hear that both of your girls are okay. Seeing the car, there was definitely someone protecting them. I was in a wreck once with my car looking about the same, but also walked away unharmed. I honestly felt like there was someone wrapping their arms around me as the crash occurred. While horrible things seem to happen, it is always comforting to know that God is with us.

God bless you all.

Praise the Lord! Oh Linda, what an incredible story. It could have been so much worse, but still such an awful ordeal for your beautiful daughters and your entire family. Enjoy your time with your daughters and know that I'll be keeping all of you in my prayers.

Oh my gosh Linda! Thank God they were wearing their seatbelts and are ok. I bet that three hour trip was so hard to get to their sides!
My son was in a bad car accident last year. The sheriff's office told me they found him unconscious, with his hands on the wheel, seatbelt on. She said more often than not when they find a 22 year old, they are not wearing their seatbelts and the outcome is much different. She was so thankful that he was smart enough to wear it. (me too!!!)
My prayers are with your family for a full recovery for everyone.
Take care,
Pam

Oh Linda...I am so grateful your girls survived this accident unscathed! How horrifying for them and for you and your husband. I can't imagine what you all must have been going through on Friday. As an ER nurse I have witnessed first hand what happens when set belts are not worn...this is a wake up call for anyone who does not buckle up! It is totally understandable for you to want to take some time to be with family after an ordeal like this...you will be missed while you are away but really take all the time you need! May God continue to bless your family.

LInda, I'm thankful your girls survived this accident and are alive and well. Accidents happen in seconds and are horrifying. I've been fortunate in my life to walk away from a serious accident. I echo your plea to wear seat belts and would add praise for air bags. Side airbags recently saved me!
Take time to be with your girls. This is a traumatic experience.

I'm so glad it wasn't worse. Make sure they do get checked out and follow up with the doctor if pain isn't getting better. After his head on collision with a drunk driver back in Decemaber, my hubby was walking around for months with a severed tendon in his ankle and crushed bone because the family doctor somehow missed it and kept telling him he shouldn't be in pain.

The driver who hit him wasn't wearing her seatbelt and spent months in the ICU.
