Oh happy day...it's finally FALL!!! Temps keep falling, and so do hedge apples. Last weekend, Mr.CC was workng at his best friend's hunting camp, and while he was out and about on the property, he found a lot of these bright green goodies for me, his sweetheart. I know what you are thinking, he brought home bags of hedge apples, and she was happy about it? Oh yes, she was grinning from ear to ear! I know it sounds strange to some of you, but it's the little things that make this old gal giddy. He was aware of the fact that, I LOVE to use these in my Fall decor, and it just never hurts to earn a couple of extra brownie points, does it? Oh well, enought about how I got all of these, let's now see how I have used some of them.

our neck of the woods.
Oh how funny, that's it's the little things that

I never knew what they were called! I don't think they have those around here. They make great fall decor.

It is the little things that count. How do I get my husband to do the little things? I am low maintanence and I too am pleased by the little thoughtful things. You are a lucky woman and your displays are beautiful!
we found some horse chestnuts out on our walk, made my day! even though I can't eat them they look wonderful sitting in a leaf bowl!

I don't know where I have been but I have never heard of hedge apples! I love them and so thoughtful of Mr. CC to think of you. They are wonderful.
I love to see the moss in the trees as we drive further south.

I took a friend to lunch today and we spotted a tree loaded with them in the bistro yard where we had our lunch. Not too many had fallen yet and their bright green orbs were so pretty hanging in the tree. The owner said I was welcome to them so I will go back and gather a bunch. I love to decorate with them and I love their smell too.

I just stopped by the tree where I stole them last year and there are none on the ground yet. I like the vibrant color of those things! I love your market basket.
I was thinking about getting some but they were very small and 99 cents a piece.

Too cute how you have those on display, here in Tennessee we call them Osage oranges. I have an Osage orange tree in my yard so I have lots of these "oranges" in my yard right now!
What are these lovely things? I get the idea they are not welcome everywhere and I've certainly never seen such a thing in Oregon! Thanks for the info!!

Osage orange is what Mr.CC has always called these, but it seems like more folks call them hedge apples...who knows:)

LOL - I just had my hubby go get me a bag from along the road near our home and I could not for the life of me remember what they're called! Love what you did with yours :)
These are very neat. We have nothing like this where we live. We usually have tons and tons of acorns which a lot of people have but this year not really any. Disappointing.

Those are really neat. We never find any around our woods. Did you know that they keep spiders out of your house. Some people put them in the basement or cellar for that reason. I added pictures of my walk in the woods to my blog today! Have a great weekend!

I LOVE hedge apples! We even have them up here in the North! I collected a bunch last year to use as decoration at my daughter's farm wedding! Thanks for sharing this. I love your arrangement.

they DO make great Fall decor fodder!! I haven't seen any around here lately, I need to take a nature walk!
They are great to decorate with and you have displayed them very nicely. The house across the street from our High School had a huge tree right by the road with these everwhere and after school the boys would have hedge apple fights. Would not be fun to be hit with one of those. Better to decorate with so I need to go see if I can find some on the ground.

I love the bright green of these apples. I have never been lucky enough to find any. I think I might need to do a little hiking in the woods and search them out!
The bright green is so pretty for Fall. These hedge apples also add a nice texture to the vignette.
