Bye Bye Yellow

Over 25 years of marriage Mr.CC and I have painted so many rooms that I have lost count. Actually we have friends and family that tease us about changing room colors so often, but for some reason our dining room has not changed colors for way too many years...I guess we have just over looked this room, but that will end this week...BYE BYE YELLOW! I'm going with a neutral color...Sherwin Williams...Antique White...I sure hope I will like it. With all the dark antique furniture in the room and the new hardwood floors I wanted a light color on the walls. I will be using my WHITE ironstone collection for the walls and installing new silk drapes...ahhhh I just get soooo excited just thinking about it...so I better go and get those YELLOW walls all covered up!

I'm looking forward to seeing it! My sister and her family always joke that we are losing square footage in our home because the walls are shrinking from all the layers of paint. OK, I'm not THAT bad, but I have painted quite a few times.

I understand wanting change. But I have to say I love that yellow! I have the exact same color in my kitchen.

So funny. I paint a lot too as you know and my kids say the house is going to sink from all the weight of the paint. I painted mine yellow this year and you are getting rid of the yellow. I am sure that off white will be pretty with you antiques. Can't wait to see it.

Linda,
My dining room was yellow too until we painted it this past Spring. It is now in neutral colors and I let the accessories bring it to life with color. Can't wait to see.

Sounds like it's going to look just great.
Our house has dark floors and ceilings I'm hoping to paint away one of these days.

Painting is my favorite way to change a room. I'm always in shock at how spending such a small amount of money can have such a major impact. That antique white is going to look beautiful. I'm sure you will share.

I'm looking the the Sherwin Williams paint deck now and I must say, it's going to be a drastic change from that beautiful yellow to Antique White.

Lowe's has a primer called High Hiding and it cover darker colors for when you are going lighter. It'll save you some paint since primer is cheaper than SW paint.

Good luck with your lighter color!

I'm excited to see it. I've been thinking of toning down a few rooms in our house.

I'll bet you'll love it.
