What AWESOME news for all of us here on the ALABAMA GULF COAST...we sure needed some! I'm here at my beach condo this weekend and our beach is CLEAN and the water is crystal clear...I almost cried when I saw how much better it looks today...prayers are answered. I know our problems are not over, but it does feel really great to see our beach look like it did before BP made this mess! Please tell your friends...neighbors...co-workers...family and everybody you know that the best way they can help us here, is to come down for a visit in the near future.
Well onto the FREE concert...WOW...I'm still pinching myself...just can't believe all these people want to help us here on the gulf coast. I'm not so surprise that Jimmy Buffet is doing this...if you didn't know...Jimmy grew up in Mobile (my hometown...located on the Alabama coast) and get this...he went to high school with Mr.CC! Jimmy and his sister Lucy both went to school with him...Mr.CC didn't know Jimmy, but he does know Lucy (they went on double dates back then). This is an awesome line up...sooooo many wonderful musicians! THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU!!!! All of these pics were taken yesterday 6/19/10 on West Beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama!
I'm linking to these FUN parties!

Great news Linda! Have fun at the concert. Glad to see people out and about on the beach.
ReplyDeleteOh MAN!!!! I looked into going to his concert in Nashville in early May... tickets were in the $150 range.
ReplyDeleteI bought a CD instead. :-(
Teri,
ReplyDeleteBook a condo...pack your bags and come on down for an AWESOME FREE time here on the ALABAMA coast...this should be one outstanding concert!
Blessings,
Linda
That is wonderful news! Jimmy Buffet is a good man and he is putting his fame to good use!! I love Gulf Shores. I lived in Mobile for a year and then in Gautier and so am very familiar with that area. Thank you for the photos showing just how gorgeous it is. Makes me wish I could take a trip to the beach!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I'm so happy your beach is clean-how beautiful it is. What a great concert line-up. I've always loved Jimmy Buffet's style. Have a great time if you go! I'm sending you my prayers for no more damage from that horrid oil spill (er, gush!)

That will be an awesome concert. Your beach pictures are beautiful. I am so glad that you all have been safe from the oil on your beach. Great news! Love & blessings from NC!
ReplyDeleteLinda, how I would love to be there and what a great concert that will be. That is great that they are helping by offering a free concert. We were in Gulf Shores last year and love it there. I would love to take my chair and umbrella out and just relax!! Love those beautiful photos for me to look at and remember our vacation last year.
ReplyDeleteLinda that is awesome!!!! We are over here in PCB and the water is also crystal clear here. Just gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd be there with bells on ... but this is our year to go to boston for the 4th.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are showing photos of 'our' beautiful beaches. All we see on the news is sludge and slime~ It is important to get the word out that the beach is open!! Pass on the good word.
Hi Linda-
ReplyDeleteYou do not know how happy it makes me to see your pictures of your beautiful coastal waters. What I see on the news is so upsetting. As you stated - there is still alot to deal with ahead. I have never been to the Alabama coast, closet I ever got was Pensacola. My mother in law used to live on Captiva. The gulf is such a beautiful place. If I lived closer I would love to go to the Jimmy Buffet concert. It is sure to be a memorable one.
My best- Diane
America, these 'Bama shores are beautiful! Have fun, folks! Melekelikimaka and Merry June, too!
ReplyDeleteLinda so happy your beach has cleare dup...such a beautiful blue water. God 'ol JB!!! He's a great guy. Been alot of years since we saw him...while we were stationed in Miami.
ReplyDeleteAwesome lineup!! Enjoy!!!

ReplyDeleteLove Gulf Shores and especially love Jimmy Buffet how wonderful for him and all the others. Thanks for the pictures too. Hope the oil gets stopped soon and the clean up won't take decades. Afraid it is going to. It is all so sad.
ReplyDeleteSo glad the waters are clearing up there!! Have they taken down the don't swim signs?? We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will be back next year! We missed that area this year deeply but knew we could not take our kids there due to the mess. Started looking at condos in the area though! Some of our fave that we have stayed in in the past are now on the market!
ReplyDeleteLinda, that is so wonderful, and I'm glad that the beach is looking better. I do pray that it will continue for you and everyone on the coastal areas.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I wish I was there! I am so glad that the beaches are beautiful! I read about the free concert in the newspaper and would love to come! We need to get away after the wedding! If you know of any condos available for 1 to 2 nights I would love to know ... I know most of them require a 3 night stay. If you have time please let me know! Would really love to come!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Donna

Linda, I am new to your blog. Thank you for posting about Gulf Shores. We, too, have a condo in GS which we rent. Ours is at Compass Point on the little lagoon off west beach. It's wonderful there. People are out in the water boating and sailing. I talked to our property manager who said the beach looked great today as well. Thankful for Jimmy and Lucy for all they do for our beautiful gulf coast.
