A $10 DIY Project

Here we are in the middle of Winter and I am teasing all of you, with this inviting beach view from our beach home.
Now, stop throwing those snowballs at me, I have a good reason to be sharing it with y'all. Don't we all, love a good thrifty DIY project? Sure we do. I think the most popular place at our beach home, is the swing, that's located on the balcony. Everybody seems to love spending time there. I know I have spent more time there, than any other place in our home. You can enjoy watching the surf roll in, read a good book, or take a long nap, the possibilities are endless. With so much use, the cushions started looking shabby. I could not find replacement cushions, so I decided to make some cushion covers. So, I purchased two indoor/outdoor tablecloths for $9.99 and now I have fresh looking cushions. It was a super easy and quick project, and I love those type of projects, don't you?
                                                                  Blessings,
                                                                     Linda

                                      These tablecloths were 50% off...so for $9.99
I got enough fabric for the cushions.

I pulled out my sewing machine to make mine,
but you could also used iron on tape, if you don't
                                                             have a machine.

So, here are my new $10 cushions.

I left the cushion covers open at one end, so
I can wash them, when needed.

I also added a new little table and chairs
                                                          to this popular spot!

  4. They look great, Linda! And it's a good idea to leave the ends open so that the cushions can be slipped out easily. I love the little table! It's perfect for a balcony.

  5. My husband and I have a beach sleepover planned also but it won't be as warm up here in The Portland, Oregon area but we still love the beach at this time of year. Love the new cushions - so easy to take off and wash too. Enjoy the beach and thanks for sharing.

  7. Oh wow! I know what those cost if you had to buy them retail. I love your view and I'd like to have a summer home right there, but I like the changes in weather. But it's beautiful and I guess I coul dream that the sand is snow since we don't get that anyway. Beautiful!

  10. I'm all for chair swings! That view makes me long for summer, that's for sure! You're so smart to get that tablecloth and use it as fabric. It's cheaper and the right type of indoor/outdoor that you need. I've been looking for a bench cushion for a while now and have been floored by the cost of premade cushions! You go girl! xoKathleen Charm Bracelet Diva {At Home}

  11. I could use some time at the beach about now. Love your slipcover and especially love the fabric you used because it's the same fabric I used for drapery panels in my living room. I didn't realize they had ready-made table runners - must hunt some of these down.

  12. I bought fabric in this same pattern to use as my Christmas tree skirt this year! I wanted something fun and modern for a change. Now that Christmas is over, I'll use it for another project. We may end up with matching swings! (but I'll have to get a swing first!).

You did a great job — love it!

  14. What a perfect solution! Love the color and the very thrifty price tag too. I had to replace four cushions last spring and they were so expensive. Thanks, Linda, for sharing at Talk of the Town.

  17. I love the easy solutions for things that might need to be washed frequently.

My latest covers for my chaise covers are basically ruffle edged tablecloth like pieces that I just toss on and pull off.

Enjoy your sunny days on the beach

  18. What a great idea! And easy to switch out for washing. I've been wanting to get some custom covers for my outdoor cushions but it is ridiculously expensive. I'm giving this a try! Thanks for the inspiration. :)
