Here we are on Good Friday and I'm still changing things up around here...somebody please stop me! My Easter vignette in the foyer just needed a little fluffing and I love to fluff...how about you? So what should I do? I will add my vintage wicker funeral basket to the scene...it will serve as my Easter basket. Now Mr.CC has never really understood my love for these baskets...honey these are for funerals...why do you want a FUNERAL basket in our home? Because I like them...'nuff said! I hope each and every one of you have a blessed Easter...remember this...he died for us...he rose up from the grave and he is waiting for us!
Blessings,
Linda
Love the chippy paint!
Still kicking myself for selling all my
metal funeral baskets at a
garage sale a few years ago!
My new best friend...chicken wire!
I'm seeing some fresh cut flowers here next week
in my funeral basket.
Linking up here...
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that lamp! So classy! I love coral!
ReplyDeleteSo how do you come by those funeral baskets? Please tell me you aren't snatching them under the cover of darkness. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love it!
Another friday's favorite for sure~~
I am a florist and I collect those baskets too. They were not only used for funerals, they were also used for weddings. So just tell your hubby they are wedding baskets. They were used from the early 20th century thru the 1950's. You can see them in a lot of the early 20th century wedding photo's. I love your lamp. It looks like a piece of coral. ~~Sherry~~
ReplyDeleteThis so pretty! I have a whole roll of chicken wire in the garage -- will have to see why it's your new best friend by spending some time on your blog!
ReplyDeleteI also thought those baskets were used for weddings so that makes me happy to see someone else said that. I love the look of this one you have and your vignette. Have a wonderful and Blessed Easter weekend. hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteKeep on fluffing! You are a fabulous fluffer!!
ReplyDeleteOh my...thanks ladies for sharing about these also being used at weddings...I'm going to take another look at my in-laws weddings pics from the 40's...I think I just might see some there. Just think...Haley is getting married in July...maybe will can use it at her wedding:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
I like multi purpose basket...or floral basket. And we all have our "morbid" obsessions. I find it's extremely relaxing and peaceful at the cemetery..no one talks back or gives you grief, plus it's usually pretty and respect is key. I digress, love this vignette and those baskets! And looky there! I spot a Monogram!!! Would you permit me to use one of your pictures Linda(I will link it to this post)?
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I'm not the only one that loves those baskets. I wish I had a metal one. I never knew they were for wedding also!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I love the Vignette atop your dresser!! So pretty! You have a great eye for decorating!!
ReplyDeleteLinda; your basket is adorable! I, too, sold my ornate "funeral basket" awhile back and have missed it so much--still keeping an eye out for one like it. Lovely posting! Patty
ReplyDeleteI like the way you fluff. That basket is so pretty, I love it.
ReplyDeleteLove that bunny and the basket! You fluff very well :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen these used at weddings, too, so I don't even think of them as funeral baskets. Maybe, a good option.
A blessed and Happy Easter to you and your family!
XO,
~Michelle

I remember my grandmother having baskets like these-though she never made a flower arrangement in her life that I knew of.These would be great for a lot of different arrangements.

That looks awesome. I've never heard of funeral baskets before, and I think it looks super cool. I might need to play around with some chicken wire soon.
ReplyDeleteYour basket is darling~ and love the chippiness of it too!! Love how you have it displayed- thanks for sharing at FNF! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sick for not buying a basket for $5.00 at the last shop I visited! What was I thinking?! I love your basket all spiffied up for spring, Linda. That little green bird is precious. Hope you had a nice Easter celebration. I'm trying not to eat all of my chocolate Easter bunnies in one sitting! LOL
