A Touch of Charm

I have added a little touch of charm with this unique piece that I found while I was out thriftin' one day. When I first saw it, I knew I wanted it...I had no idea what it was ,but I knew just what I was going to do with it. Just as I picked it up and was looking at it...another customer came up...I asked her what she thought it was...she was clueless too. She thought I was going to put it down and walk away and when I didn't, she said...you really don't want that old thing...you bet I do...it's going up on a wall and display black and white photos. The look on her face was  priceless...she had no idea that she was talking to somebody that is always thinking outside of the box and with a $6 price tag...she was mine! What do you think this piece is? Mr.CC is guessing that it was part of an old aluminum screen door...I think he might be correct. As I said...my first thought was to display pics on it...but it would also be fun to hang jewelry or display Christmas cards...the possibilities are endless.
Take care and I hope you all
                                                         have an awesome weekend,
                                                                         Linda

                                                                  My sweet MOM!
My great-nephew John...he is such a sweet child!
                                                               Baby Griffin!
This was their Christmas card...great-niece Meryl and
                                              great-nephew Wilson...what a beautiful pic!

A pic from 2004 of my girls!

I better get going...I have so much to do before this group
arrives at my house for another fun filled weekend
 celebrating Mardi Gras...looks like
they need a few more beads!

Come party with me at...

  3. Pretty cool what you did with it. Could it be the back off an old fridge?

  4. I think Brenda is right, it looks like it was attached to an old refrigerator. It's definitely a grate cover of some kind, and it looks like the size you see on the back of a fridge. What ever it is, it suits your style Linda. I love what you did with it, and I love it's rustic charm, and finish. The photos are wonderful. xoxo tami

  5. That is adorable. My hubby said yours is right. It's to keep the kids from crashing through the bottom part of a screen door. He's old enough to remember one from growing up in Illinois...lol...

  10. If it was a bit bigger, I'd think it was a crib mattress support. Whatever it is, it looks fantastic on your wall. I love outside of the box projects. Thanks for sharing.

SO, we are wondering, since you'll be celebrating Mardi Gras, if you have a yummy Gumbo recipe? We're having a MG party to shoo away the snow...and are still searching for the perfect Gumbo. If you have one....we'd love for you to share it :)

  53. Ha! I did something just like that with a very large piece that I found in the trash. One night last summer my 21 year old son and I were driving home and I saw the piece I got laying in someone's trash pile. I yelled at my son to stop so I could get it. He (very reluctantly) did, but he thought I was absolutely crazy. Now, that it is up and full of pics, he tries to take full credit for it every time someone comments on it. Lori L
