IKEA

I have fallen in love with a retail store...is this possible? Yes...it is in my book...there is only one problem here...the nearest store is located 5 hours away...bad for me but gooood for Mr.CC and our checking account! Back in November we went over to Atlanta for some shopping and IKEA was our first stop...I think we spent four hours in this awesome store (warehouse)...we even had lunch there. After drooling over all the gorgeous rooms upstairs, we made it downstairs and started filling up our buggie...I'm a PRO at this task! During November we were in the middle of our kitchen re-model and we were hoping to find some light fixtures here and we did...one fixture for the middle of the room...one for over the sink and some under cabinet lights...we got some outstanding prices and are very pleased with how they look in our new kitchen. During this trip I also bought pillows...steak knives...kitchen gadgets...candles and party napkins. Since I had soooo much good luck with my first visit to IKEA, I knew I had to return soon and I did! While in Tampa for the Outback Bowl in December we made a stop at that location...lucky me...the Christmas items were all on SALE...I think I did a happy dance right there in the store...Mr.CC had to calm me down. This time I bought lots of Christmas goodies (sorry...I forgot to take pics before I put them away in the attic...come back in November for viewing)...I also bought my mom some under cabinets lights for her birthday...more candles...more knives and some frames for the hallway. If you have never been to a IKEA store...treat yourself...they have great stuff at LOW prices...just my kind of place!

  3. Even their catalog is addicting! I am a big big fan of their slip cover couches- perfect for families! We can throw the cover right in our washer!

  5. I love Ikea too, but our closest location is 2 hours away, and that's if there's no traffic! I shouldn't complain though if yours is 5 hours from where you live!

  6. I'm a big fan of Ikea too! It's probably a good thing our nearest one is two hours away.
I need to go soon and get a matching nightstand {before they discontinue it}. Thanks for the great pics!

  7. I think I'm lucky that there is not an IKEA close to where I live or I would be in trouble. My sisters live in the Dallas area and they have an IKEA within 5 minutes of both of their houses and they NEVER go! The only time they go is when I visit and make them take me.
I'll be posting to Nifty Thrifty on Tuesday.

Atlanta's the closest IKEA to me, too, although there is talk of one coming to Nashville. We'll see.....

  10. Love the lighting! We have an Ikea about 45 minutes from my house. I purchased the chair, storage boxes, shelves and hanging lamp for my office the last time I went. I printed out my shopping list online with the bin location numbers. That way my hubby didn't have to shop as long. I can't believe I got him to go with me. Have a nice day.

  11. I love IKEA too! In my case it's 25 minutes away from me! I don't get to go often because I don't really like going Atlanta alone (I get lost)!

    Have a great Sunday!

  12. I've been to an IKEA once when I was pretty young (and don't really even remember it), in Houston. I have no idea where the closest one is to me now. Think I will have to google it and see. It sounds like an AWESOME store!

  19. It's so fun to wander around an Ikea. I always have to drive to get to one, too, but not 5 hours. I suppose that is a good/bad thing. I love their prices, too.

  25. Hi Linda ,
I find it very odd to hear there are some people who have NEVER been to Ikea ! Course your distances are so much greater over the pond and maybe there are not so many stores - poor you lot ! Here is France I can get to an Ikea within and hour and a half - not that I go toooooo often. I vowed that this little cottage I am renovating would be Ikea free but of course things creep in - because Ikea is nice really and soooo cheap . I got my kitchen sink there - a lot of light fittings , rugs , bedding ( do I really NEED more bedding ? No - but I got it anyway ) Not that I save any money mind - because those little baskets , candles and frippery at the end are so tempting. One needs self control to shop in Ikea !

  26. I just went to IKEA for the first time on Sunday. I loved it. It was so much fun. The one nearest to me is about 3 hours away. But it's in the same town my sister lives in so I can visit her and go to IKEA too!
