Oh happy day...it's finally FALL!!! Temps keep falling, and so do hedge apples. Last weekend, Mr.CC was workng at his best friend's hunting camp, and while he was out and about on the property, he found a lot of these bright green goodies for me, his sweetheart. I know what you are thinking, he brought home bags of hedge apples, and she was happy about it? Oh yes, she was grinning from ear to ear! I know it sounds strange to some of you, but it's the little things that make this old gal giddy. He was aware of the fact that, I LOVE to use these in my Fall decor, and it just never hurts to earn a couple of extra brownie points, does it? Oh well, enought about how I got all of these, let's now see how I have used some of them.
Blessings,
Linda
Added some to my vintage shopping basket.
Here we have an old burlap feed sack...ironstone...
faux Fall leaves...old berry basket and a white faux
pumpkin.
One found it's way to one of
my vintage scales.
Just a simple FARMHOUSE look...is just
what I was looking for.
They were just waiting for him to come along.
Spanish moss is everywhere here in
our neck of the woods.
Oh how funny, that's it's the little things that
make us so HAPPY!!
Linkng up to some fun parties...would love to have you join me!

I never knew what they were called! I don't think they have those around here. They make great fall decor.
ReplyDeleteThey are all over the place here, too, Linda! I love 'em! I love how you've used them in your decor. Happy Fall!
ReplyDeleteWe have those all around here too Linda. I LOVE how you place one on top of your vintage scale and your basket vignette looks great too! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt is the little things that count. How do I get my husband to do the little things? I am low maintanence and I too am pleased by the little thoughtful things. You are a lucky woman and your displays are beautiful!
ReplyDeletewe found some horse chestnuts out on our walk, made my day! even though I can't eat them they look wonderful sitting in a leaf bowl!
ReplyDeleteVery Cute!! I have never even heard of 'hedge apples' but they certainly look great!! I'm your newest follower! =) Deanna
ReplyDeleteHow pretty Linda! I love how you used them!! I'm not sure if we have them around here or not, but I will be checking. Enjoy your day, Gail
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know they existed! :)
ReplyDeleteI love their color and texture.
Those are really neat! One time my husband came home with an enamelware lid he found in an old house and I was so happy...i'm like you, the little things mean the most. New follower to your blog, come visit sometime :)

Linda,
ReplyDeleteI don't know where I have been but I have never heard of hedge apples! I love them and so thoughtful of Mr. CC to think of you. They are wonderful.
I love to see the moss in the trees as we drive further south.
Hugs,
Donna
I took a friend to lunch today and we spotted a tree loaded with them in the bistro yard where we had our lunch. Not too many had fallen yet and their bright green orbs were so pretty hanging in the tree. The owner said I was welcome to them so I will go back and gather a bunch. I love to decorate with them and I love their smell too.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a hedge apple either so now I know. I love the pretty wire basket all fluffed up for fall.
hugs
Sissie
I never heard of hedge apples either. They are gorgeous! Can you actually eat them?????
ReplyDeleteJeanine
I just stopped by the tree where I stole them last year and there are none on the ground yet. I like the vibrant color of those things! I love your market basket.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about getting some but they were very small and 99 cents a piece.
ReplyDeleteMr. CC is a sweetheart to get them for you. They're great to decorate with. Nice vignette you created.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice that there are just laying there waiting to be picked up! My former house had a Bois'd Arc ?
ReplyDeletetree. If I knew then what I know now........Thank you for sharing your fabulous Fall inspiration and creativity at Potpourri Friday!
I'm ashamed to admit I didn't even know what they were called! LOL. But, I'd be giddy, too, if my hubs brought some home ... they look great as part of your Fall decor!
ReplyDeleteI also didn't know what these were called, but now I want to find some! Your basket looks great. Love the pop of green with the orange. Robin
ReplyDeleteToo cute how you have those on display, here in Tennessee we call them Osage oranges. I have an Osage orange tree in my yard so I have lots of these "oranges" in my yard right now!
ReplyDeleteWhat are these lovely things? I get the idea they are not welcome everywhere and I've certainly never seen such a thing in Oregon! Thanks for the info!!
ReplyDeleteMary Jo,
ReplyDeleteOsage orange is what Mr.CC has always called these, but it seems like more folks call them hedge apples...who knows:)
Blessings,
Linda

So that is what they are called. Very cool Linda. Love your display too.
ReplyDeleteLinda I learn something new everyday didn't know they where called that. don't you just love fall?
ReplyDeletePattie
LOL - I just had my hubby go get me a bag from along the road near our home and I could not for the life of me remember what they're called! Love what you did with yours :)
ReplyDeleteThese are very neat. We have nothing like this where we live. We usually have tons and tons of acorns which a lot of people have but this year not really any. Disappointing.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
They look splendid in your basket. I do not think I have ever seen hedge apples here.
ReplyDeleteWhat in the heck are those things? I kept scrolling up and down and wondering why someone scattered decor balls all over the ground...
ReplyDeleteBringing your hedge apples inside to use as decor is a brilliant idea! They look right at home in your farmhouse vignette! I think I'll look for some of those too! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThose are really neat. We never find any around our woods. Did you know that they keep spiders out of your house. Some people put them in the basement or cellar for that reason. I added pictures of my walk in the woods to my blog today! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThey do look so pretty in your vintage basket! and on the scale I never knew what hedge apples were until blogging! ha! Guess you're never too old to learn! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! LOVE the color and texture! That fall basket is beautiful!!!

I LOVE hedge apples! We even have them up here in the North! I collected a bunch last year to use as decoration at my daughter's farm wedding! Thanks for sharing this. I love your arrangement.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of them, either...but they sure look great with that wonderful texture...
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of or seen such an apple...nice to know about a textured apple, with a nice green color.
ReplyDeletethey DO make great Fall decor fodder!! I haven't seen any around here lately, I need to take a nature walk!
ReplyDeleteThey are great to decorate with and you have displayed them very nicely. The house across the street from our High School had a huge tree right by the road with these everwhere and after school the boys would have hedge apple fights. Would not be fun to be hit with one of those. Better to decorate with so I need to go see if I can find some on the ground.

ReplyDeleteWhat interesting fruits! I don't believe I've ever seen anything like them, but they make a very good addition to the fall decor!
ReplyDeleteThey really are the perfect color and have great texture too! Love the one sitting on the scale!
ReplyDeleteWe just saw some Hedge Apples the other day. What a great way to display them. I had noticed that you had on your sidebar to contact you on products for a giveaway and I have tried e-mailing you a couple of times but I don't think they are getting through. My e-mail is ecomattersnow@gmail.com. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen or heard of a hedge apple, but I would love to find some for decorating.
ReplyDeleteI love the bright green of these apples. I have never been lucky enough to find any. I think I might need to do a little hiking in the woods and search them out!
ReplyDeleteThe bright green is so pretty for Fall. These hedge apples also add a nice texture to the vignette.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
