I'm Not A Fan Of Garden Gloves

Yes...that's right, I would rather go without gloves while working in the yard planting all my flowers...I guess I like playing in the DIRT! Most women my age are all concern about their nails...not me...I have never been big on the nail thing...it's just not for me...so when I work in my flower beds, you will find me without those pretty gloves (I have some...I just don't wear them). So on with the post...I have been a planting FOOL for the last two weeks...I have lost count on how many new plants and trees I have planted...I always buy way too many...I just can't stop myself...I want all of them! I hope I have passed on the passion for gardening to my two daughters...my mom passed it on to me and I'm hoping it continues on. Hope you all have a beautiful day!

  9. Love the beautiful plants. This is my first time to visit your blog but I will be back. My husband and I are originally from SE Alabama currently transplanted to the Pacific Northwest. Longing to return to God's country.
I would make one suggestion... replace that Auburn flag with a Crimson Tide one and your yard will be perfect :-).

  17. Had to click over just because of your title--I'm not a glove gal, either!!! :0) IMO, you lose something in the planting when you can't feel the dirt...
    Beautiful plants!

  18. Your flowers all look beautiful. I have not potted anything yet it is a little too early here. But I think I might get some pansies this weekend and pot up my wire basket.

  20. Those are so pretty. I'm like you. Those garden gloves just get in the way. My nails are a disaster. Everything looks so gorgeous.

  22. Linda, your flowers already look so pretty! Be sure and show them again as they grow in the pots.

I am a plant fiend too. Never can get enough but I do have to wear gloves. I have some that have rubbery hands and they fit closely so it's easy to grip things. BTW, be sure to visit Daisy Cottage today. She has a tour of a person's home and gardens that is so much fun!

Thanks for your sweet comments on my bedroom. :)

  23. Looks so pretty in the garden! I sometimes don't wear gloves, and for the first time I got an infection in my finger after I yanked a weed! It was the strangest thing - I had to go on antibiotics!

  25. Your flowers are gorgeous, Linda! I can't wait until we can plant and not worry about the last freeze. I love the idea you have with flowers hanging on the trees. Can I ask what you used to do that? The yellow, pink and purple petunias look fantastic overflowing that stand!

  26. You've done some beautiful planting. Mine has been done since before Easter, except my window boxes. I just never seem to get around to them. I have the cocoa mats, and the containters hungs, just nothing in them. Yours have really inspired me. It's raining, but when it clears up, I am heading to Lowes. Thanks.

  31. I love your colorful yard!
    WOWOWOWOW!
If you lived here in SC where the "dirt" you had was clay-- ew-- you'd wear gloves, I think ;)
I grew up in FL, and the dirt there was glorious for digging in. Not here.
    Anyway--lucky you with "normal" dirt.
Thank you so much for coming by my home and the sweet thoughts you had about my room. They made me smile, see: :D

  37. You have been a planting fool and the beauty you shared with us today proves that! Splendid!

I'm so with you on the gardening glove thing, isn't that why we have nail brushes? I want to feel the earth in my hands when I garden and the sand in my toes when I'm at the beach!

  38. You have definitely been busy! All your plants and containers look fabulous. I am with you about the gloves. I am a tactile person and want/need to feel the earth in my hands. If I know I have to go someplace later on the same day I am playing in the dirt, I simply scrape my nails lightly over a bar of soap so it will prevent the dirt from getting under my nails thus, making it easier to clean them when I am done playing.

  39. Nothing like a little dirt under your nails. I'm a new follower. Loved every minute of my visit in your stunning garden.

Off to find my nail brush,
