For The Love Of Sea Oats

This week Mr.CC and I helped some other owners here at our complex plant 5400 sea oats...now that's a BOATLOAD of plants! All of you know how much I love to play in the dirt...well I love to play in the sand too! We did this so our sand dunes will build back up after the past storms that we have had here on the gulf coast. After all the hard work that was put into this project, I sure hope all vistors will read the signs posted and keep out of this area so the plants will grow. Here is a little info on SEA OATS!

Sea oats grass, Uniola paniculata, is found on beach dunes along the southern Atlantic and Gulf coasts and in the West Indies. The grass grows well in the salty, windy environment found in these areas. The grass is important because of its ability to establish itself on beach dunes, stabilizing the dune and preventing erosion. Sea oats grass is considered an endangered species in Louisiana and is protected in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

Hello ladies...all is good here at the beach...having a great week with MR.CC...going for some fun bike rides and walks along the beach. Yesterday I found a NEW thrift store...did a little happy dance (wonder how many people got a good laugh?)...this is a church thrift store...my favorite kind. I pulled up and couldn't believe how many cars were in the parking lot...I knew it must be a good one! I will share with you some of my treasures at next weeks NTT! I'm working on some projects and hope to have some complete today, so I can share them with you...until then...here are some random pics from COASTAL CHARM!

Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays No.9

I hope everyone had a great weekend...I've had a great time here at my beach condo...moved some furniture around while Mr.CC wasn't here (surprise honey)...soaking up some rays...taking late afternoon walks along the beach and working on some THRIFTY projects that I will be sharing with you later. I didn't go out to garage sales, but I did make a stop at a local thrift store last week and found some THRIFTY goods. I know I can count on all of you for finding some awesome treasures...so lets see what you found this week.

I found this glass cloche with a $2.74 price tag...put one of my cute $2.00 nest in it and I'm lovin' the look!
I have been looking for some bottles and here is what I found...small bottle on the left .99...large bottle in the middle $1.74...the bottle on the right was $2.48...I have a couple of ideas on how I'm going to use them...read on to found out!
A few weeks ago Sharlotte@Ms. Sharlotte's Southern Reflections shared these fabulous bottles with us at NTT...I knew as soon as I saw them, that I had to make some...so this is one idea!Second idea is to use this bottle for mouthwash (just need to get a cork for the top).I like having items in my guest bath for all our overnight guests.WW cookbook for $1.98...Mr.CC and I are still on this plan and lovin' how it's working for us...I have lost 12 pounds and feel sooooo much better.New shower curtain hooks @.99!Remember my cute little $1.50 Ironstone pitcher from a few weeks ago? Well she has found a home right here on my mantel.

Artichokes Anyone?

What's a gal to do when she is on a DIET and she has this beautiful cake stand? Put fake ARTICHOKES on it and just DREAM about all those yummy cakes that you wish was seating on it! My SWEET sis gave me this beautiful chocolate cake stand for my birthday back in Janurary and I started WW the following week...I just couldn't put it away...so this is what I decided to do with it!

This Is Where You Can Find Me This Week

I'm off to the beach for a week of FUN in the SUN! My sister is spending the weekend with me...oh yes...a girls weekend...let's see...soaking up some rays...eating out (WW style)...seeing the latest movie...shopping...walks along the beach (gotta get our exercise in).We could be bad and head over to the Flora-Bama for the annual MULLET TOSS...think we will pass on that one.I hope when Mr.CC gets there on Monday, the place still looks the same!

The rest of the week I will be doing some sewing...craft projects...paperwork (I do want to keep the lights on here at Coastal Charm)...bike riding with my favorite person (Mr.CC)...working on my blog design...blogging and more blogging and yes maybe I will get a little bit of work in...that's if Mr.CC puts his foot down with me! Don't worry...I will be sure to put lots and lots of sunscreen on!
I must eat here...my favorite place to eat at the beach...I promise, I will watch the calories!Sooooo yummy!I must get some shopping in...can't let the sis down!This is where you can find Mr.CC at...and maybe me!And this is how my days will END!
