Throw Me Something Mister (and I don't mean a snowball)!
Just let me say this...MARDI GRAS and SNOW is not a good mix! Here at COASTAL CHARM we are having our HUGE MARDI GRAS season and SNOW will be falling right in the middle of it...now that's not COOL! We are expecting a couple of inches of SNOW tonight and tomorrow...SNOW on the GULF COAST? We have not seen this frozen white stuff in years. My baby girl is not very happy about this at all:( For months she has been planning on bringing some of her roommates and sorority sisters home with her for the BIG weekend...travel and SNOW in the deep SOUTH is not a good idea...soooo No MARDI GRAS for these gals in 2010:( The KING CAKE is here and waiting for them...and it looks soooo yummy...it's a shame that I can't have any of it...I wonder how many WW points are in a slice? I better go for now...need to move in some TROPICAL PLANTS and get ready for the SNOW!
Everybody knows that NEW ORLEANS is known for their fabulous food right? My SWEET sister did it again...she ordered a KING CAKE from a bakery in the BIG EASY for her niece and her friends...now that's one SPECIAL AUNT!
Just loaded with lots and lots of SUGAR...with a surprise inside...it's a BABY!
Friday night parades are off...maybe we can be doing this on Saturday night!
Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you stopped by. You have a fab blog.
Snow and Mardi gras? The weather has been so strange this year.
Stay warm.
Hugs,
Barb
We have Mardi Gras here in Southeast Texas and it's crazy cold and sleeting here as well...which really sucks!!!
ReplyDeleteLaissez les bons temps rouler!!!
That's no fun! I hope you all are able to celebrate and the snow doesn't last long!! I can't believe there will be snow! Wasn't the last time like fifteen years ago?
ReplyDeleteHappy Mardi Gras!!
We are lucky enough to live in a town that has it's own Mardi Gras krewes. So we have parades from Friday to Tuesday, I've got our parade schedule all mapped out, and we are ready to catch some beads!! My little one LOVES parades, and last year we had a blast with him. Hoping our weather warms up a little though! And, I've already eaten way too much king cake! It's just so yummy!
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! As for the King Cake, you've got my curiousity peeked. Sorry to hear about the snow. We're sitting in a foot of snow here in Ohio. Have a good weekend! Lisa
ReplyDeleteI love King Cake. My boss is from New Orleans and he used to order a King Cake and share it with us for Mardi Gras.
ReplyDeleteYep, snow and Mardi Gras just doesn't sound right. Hopefully, it won't be much and you can enjoy the celebrations.
The weather this year really has been crazy. It has snowed more this fall/winter, than it has in the past 15 years we have lived here. It started snowing here this morning again, (Southern Oklahoma) and we are expected to get between 3 and 6 inches today/tonight.♥
Too bad you daughter is missing her party, I feel bad for her. Snow has a way of putting a damper on things.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of a King Cake but when I visit New Orleans in the spring, I will have to find out all about it!!
xoxo
Janie
Linda, I can not believe ya'll are going to have snow! Thanks for stopping! Just think how sick you would feel eating all that sugar !Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!!
ReplyDeletesmiles, alice
I've been so good this year, not one morsel of King Cake has touched my lips! But that is the most tempting picutre from Haydel's!
ReplyDeleteKnow what you mean about traveling here in snow or ice, it's scary. Here's to Mardi Gras fun without cold weather!
Girl, I hope the snow misses you and the girls can go to the parade!! Up here in North Alabama they are only predicting a "dusting"! What is up with THAT?? All the snow is in the South and there is just something wrong with that picture!
ReplyDeleteI know you will all have fun anyway!!
Wishing you SUNSHINE!!
Lou Cinda :)
Snow? Crazy. Enjoy it tho. I love how everything just kinda slows down when it snows. It is often a nice time to snuggle up with a good book.
ReplyDeleteOh I forgot to ask.. A king's cake? Is is just cake with a crown inside?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it must be yummy. Good for you to stay away. I am proud of you for your WW journey. :)
Yep...I agree, a weird combination!!!! Maybe there won't be as many exposed boobies since it's cold!!!! Yeah, right!!
ReplyDeleteYou could just lick the crumbs off the baby and that wouldn't be breaking the WW laws as badly!!!
Rhonda
Snow or not, I could go for a Mardi Gras. I love love love that wreath! Did you make that yourself? I started drooling over that and then the cake. Ugh! I need to go find some chocolate now!
ReplyDeleteOH NO! And you know I really mean that. My sympathy goes out to you all. Snow in the Gulf Coast? I sure hope it isn't much, and you can party anyway. Take extra care if it does snow. I think - maybe - people will be able to get out tomorrow. I sure hope so. I need to go to the grocery store and get the hubby his coffee.
ReplyDeleteMary Lou
Love your wreath and the cake looks yummy! I can't believe you may get more snow than us north of you! Such a weird winter!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Donna
The snow sure has been causing lots of problems this year! Such a shame for your daughter and that you can't eat cake!!! Judi
ReplyDeleteCute post. I'm sorry the snow is ruining your plans. I've never been to Mardi Gras but hope to one day. I have never had King cake either, it looks sinful. Love the wreath.
ReplyDeleteWould love to someday experience Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Can't believe you are going to have SNOW! This has been a CRAZY and COLD winter. Love King Cake too...that's an especially nice looking cake!
ReplyDeleteThe weather will be a bummer, won't it? However, enough booze and you will be warm! Save those WW points for the fluid! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad.
ReplyDeleteSomeone came to my blog and asked me to come to their give-a-way and enter and it was a KING cake. Maybe you could do a give-a-way too, maybe I'd win yours and get to try one for the first time ever.
I can't believe how much snow most of the US is getting.
So glad you loved the tute. I have some really fun ones planned all the way in to April-already.

LOVE that wreath! I feel for your daughter & her friends. It snowed on my 21st b-day in Chapel Hill. But, I was resilient and went out anyway! They can always celebrate later.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sorry the snow is messing up your plans for Mardi Gras! The weather is so strange everywhere! I want the sun to warm our beaches, I need to swim in the Gulf again!
ReplyDeleteSweet sister you have there my dear, how thoughtful of her.
After a few days of rain we will be getting a nice sunny 4 day weekend in the 70's I can't wait!!! Thanks for stopping by my blog I'm really enjoying your blog as well.
ReplyDelete:) Kristin
Enjoy the snow!! We had it back in December so I guess we can just be happy with that. Its been a crazy winter!

ReplyDeleteI hope the weather doesn't ruin all the festivities...have a blast in spite of it!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely wreath! I never would have thought of one for Mardi Gras. And I do love a King Cake.
ReplyDeleteSnow & Mardi Gras? You are right, the two just don't go together. I've only been to a couple of Mardi Gras/Carnaval celebrations. One was in San Diego (pretty tame). The other was in Venice Italy. We just happen to be there on Fat Tuesday. Lots of fabulous costumes & lots of people. Other than that, pretty tame. My aunt was in New Orleans once for Mardi Gras. She said it was the wildest thing she has ever seen. Thanks for visiting my blog & leaving me a comment.
ReplyDeleteI saw on the news this morning that you guys were getting hit with snow over there. Goodness sakes!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had one flake of snow this year in Seattle. :) Everything is blooming all around us and we are breaking temp records. Crazy, crazy this weather.
I'm so glad you dropped by my blog and that you said, "hi!" I look forward to getting to know you!
Robin~♥
Hey Linda! If ya took pics of the snow and have a chance come on over and link up!
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteYour blog is wonderful!!!!!! I am so glad I found it!
Stay away from the King Cake! :) We had them the whole month of Mardi Gras when I worked in downtown New Orleans. You couldn't pay me to eat one now. Wow! Snow in Alabama. That is just crazy ... even TX and bone chilling cold in places that don't usually get that low. We have hardly had a winter here at all which is also a little unusual. Weather patterns are constantly changing. Have a fabulous weekend. Blessings, Tammy
ReplyDeleteHow FUN Linda! But sorry to hear about the snow. We just missed it here in South LA but up north got a LOT!
ReplyDeleteI have an idea...if you mail that king cake to me, (make sure you overnight it) I promise I will take care of it for you and get it off of your hands. I really don't mind...I would do that for a good friend! ;)
I'll be crossing my fingers that tonight ya'll will be able to be at the parade. Our weather is yucky here too but that won't stop us from catching a few beads!!!!
Happy Mardi Gras/Valentine's Weekend~
everything vintage
So sorry that the weather is messing up your weekend plans ! Wow, I can not believe you would not be tempted to at least have a slice of the cake ! Stay warm !!

I just want to say I love that Mardi Gras wreath. Your blog is fun too!

That’s sad that the parades were canceled but at least y’all got to play in the snow! The king cake looks delish. When I was teaching one of my parents brought in a homemade king cake....it was so good!

Hi Linda. Thank you for leaving such a sweet comment on my blog about my blue and white pieces. I have heard about the king cake, never had any, but have heard about it from a friend. Love all the colors. The wreath is beautiful. Have a wonderful evening.
