Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays No.40

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend with family and friends...I know we sure did. Spent  Thanksgiving Day at my mom's house with family and eat way too much (I'm sure we are all guilty of this one). On Friday headed over to my sister's house for an IRON BOWL PARTY...now speaking of this game...this one will never be forgotten...after being down by 24 at the end of the  first quarter...we came back in full force and WON the game 28-27!!! I have spent six weekends in Auburn this fall going to our games and I can tell you first hand...these guys just don't give up! We are now #1 again and heading to the SEC championship game this week...I just LOVE those AUBURN TIGERS!!!!!

I have also been very busy this past weekend getting my home all dressed up for the CHRISTMAS holidays....you know I'm hosting a CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE here at COASTAL CHARM on December 9 and so I can't be just half dressed when all my guests show up...you know what I mean? Today I'm sharing my THRIFTY mantel with all of you...the only things new here are my glass ornaments that I bought at Ikea last year at 50% off. I had a great time picking up some discounted items at the after Christmas sales last year and now I'm having even more fun pulling it all out and playing with it! Looking forward to seeing what THRIFTY items and ideas you have to share this week...soooooo let's get this party going...link her up and start visiting around and get inspired!
Hoping all of y'all have a fun time here at my party
and come back again next week!
                                                                           Linda
I decided to keep my mantel simple this year...so a twig tree was just perfect for that look!
It's very simple, but I'm lovin' it!
I did think about adding more,
but I think this will be the
                                                                     finial look.
P.S. I have changed my mind...I will be adding
something on each side of the tree...check
back later to find out what I do!!!!!
When I saw these glass striped trees at Ikea last year...I knew I had to have some.
I'm sorry to say, but I don't remember how much
I paid for them...I sure wish those guys at Ikea
would put price tags on their merchandise!
                                                          Momma and her baby!!!!
Garland that I have had for years...just added some berry balls
                                                                and twigs from my yard!
These white stockings were FREE...an owner of one of the antique shops
that I was located in, didn't want them any more...they were brand new...so
I said sure...I will be happy to take them off your hands.

I have always wanted to display wreaths on my plantation shutters
in the den...so this year...I did just that! I used some ribbon that I
already had on hand and added some  red and lime green balls from
                                                                         my stash!
If your liking the look...head right out to your own yard and
                                   cut a branch...then get a container...some styrofoam...sand
(I used sand because I have plenty of it here on the coast)
and then add some ornaments...now you will have a
                                           NIFTY  THRIFTY CHRISTMAS TREE too!!!!

Still pondering where I will used the rest of these beauties...yes
                                                                  I have more!!!

Memories

Today I have posted some pics of our VINTAGE NATIVITY that came from Mr.CC's  family...I have another nativity but this one is so SPECIAL because it's the one that Mr.CC had in his childhood home...the memories are so wonderful. Since we lost both of his parents during our first year of  marriage, I try to keep some family treasures displayed around our home, so their memory stays with us every day. When my daughters get married and start their own families, I plan on passing on family heirlooms...I wonder which one will want this lovely nativity...I guess only time will tell!
                                                   Hope y'all come back...real soon,
                                                                        Linda

Just a little reminder...my Christmas Open House is Dec.9. I would love for you to post my party button on your sidebar and help me spread the word and if you post it...please let me know because this southern gal is big on THANK YOU NOTES!!!

Come join me for some fun here!!

The Beauty of Fall at the Lake

Last weekend while Mr.CC and I were in Auburn for our football game, we deceided to spend Friday at the lake. With the trees at their peak, this was the perfect time to spend the day riding down country roads and soaking up all the FALL BEAUTY!!!  In a few years Mr.CC will retire and we have been thinking about relocating to the lake...where do want to retire to? I'm looking forward to spending lots of time soaking up the beauty of our country...we plan on traveling the great old USA...hoping to see all 50 states. Take a look around the lake and you will understand why we want to make it our new home in a few years!

Down By The Bay...Part 2

I'm so happy that you came back today for PART 2 of DOWN BY THE BAY...as I said yesterday...we will looking at some bayside homes located in the heart of FAIRHOPE. Now as we look around town at all the different styles and sizes of these homes, please keep in mind that Mr.CC would be happy to sell you one of these beauties...yes Mr.CC is a real estate broker and he does a great deal of business here on the bay. Here is a little info about Fairhope that I would like to share with you.

More and more people are moving to Fairhope Alabama. It is a charming small town, a great location for the family. The population have increased with more than 29% from 2000 to 2007.

Those interested in Fairhope AL Real Estate should also know that downtown Fairhope is the location of many music festivals, art walks, and fine dining restaurants where people greet one another with that southern, friendly charm.

Voted the top 10 most romantic escapes by Coastal Living Magazine, Fairhope is truly a desirable community in which to relocate or to retire.

Recently called "one of the country's best kept surprises" in a 2007 edition of Coastal Living magazine, Fairhope, Alabama was founded in 1894 as a single tax colony by a group of economists. Fairhope, Alabama is one of two single tax colonies remaining in the United States. The purpose of forming this new colony was to establish a model colony free from all forms of private monopoly. This single tax colony still exists today to retain the value of the land for the community.

So now that you have all the nitty gritty about this quaint liitle town...let's get this tour moving!!!!
                                        Hope y'all come back...real soon,
                                                           Linda
