Shop Talk with Shabby Love

I wanted to do a regular series on my blog, something unique that hasn't been done before. I came up with an idea to feature small shops, that are located throughout the country. So, every Friday you can stop by and check out a new shop, and at the same time meet the owner. This week it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Melissa from SHABBY LOVE! After you finish shopping, you can click here to visit Melissa's blog.

Hello everybody! Melissa from Shabby Love here! I was so excited when Linda asked me to be apart of her new series showcasing booths and shops! I am ecstatic to be here today sharing my space with you!!

I have been a vendor at Collette's Vintage in Burton, MI for two years now! I do have a full time job, so keeping up on my booth is a fun little hobby I do on the side and I have truly enjoyed every minute of it! It gives me a reason to shop and another place besides my home to decorate! ;)

I decorate my booth very similar to how I decorate my home - whites, wood tones, metal, rustic, farmhouse.

My husband built this step back cupboard as a display piece and I still absolutely love it!!

We set up this faux barn wood mantle for Christmas, but I'm not quite ready to take it down yet. It gives my booth such a great rustic touch!

One of my favorite things about having my booth is being able to decorate for the different seasons. At home I usually only decorate for Fall and Christmas mostly because I don't have the space to store all the seasonal decor. I get to have a bit more fun here!

My husband is even in on the action a bit with his shelf he decorates with vintage sports and bar items. We jokingly refer to his area as the Manly Side of Shabby. I think he should make a sign. :)

My booth is right between the cash register and an aisle so I purposely left both sides of my booth open. I see people constantly use it as a pass through. I'm totally fine with that as it means more traffic through my space!!

I'm still on the hunt for two windows to finish off my little half walls.

I've been collecting woodland items for a few months now and I cannot wait to redo my booth with all the new goodies once Easter is over!!!

I hope you enjoyed the tour of my booth!! And, I hope you will come over and visit me on my blog or Facebook page anytime. I regularly share new finds, new projects, and booth updates!

Thank you so much Linda for having me! I'm very honored to be apart of your series!!

South Alabama Bloggers Conference

Hey y'all,
Do you live here in South Alabama, South Mississippi or the Florida panhandle? If so, Kim from the blog...CoziNest is putting together a one day bloggers conference/meet-up in Fairhope this month. It sounds like a lot of fun to me, so I am planning on attending it. We would love to have you join us too. It's a three hour meeting and maybe afterwards we can catch a bite for lunch, then do some shopping in downtown Fairhope. Here is a little bit of what Kim shared on her blog about the day.

I want to extend a personal invitation to local bloggers in southern Alabama. We will be meeting for an informal get-to-know on March 18, 2014 from 9 am to 12 pm. The gathering will take place in the room above Latte Da next door to Page and Palette. For GPS purposes, the address is 32 S Section St. Fairhope, Alabama 36532
Whether you are a seasoned veteran who’s written 10,000 posts or are in a bloggers’ fog and have no idea what you are doing, I would love to meet you. The purpose is to get to know each other and form a network of southern Alabama bloggers who can stay current and contribute our best together to the world of blogging.

For more info, click here and read all about what Kim has planned. I hope to see there on the 18th!
                                                   Blessings,
                                                     Linda

Mobile Mardi Gras

We are in full swing of Mardi Gras here in Mobile. Schools are closed on Monday and Tuesday, so the kiddos can join in on all the fun. You might be really surprised to hear that businesses are closed on Tuesday, oh yes, Fat Tuesday is a holiday for all of us. This past week, I've made it to three parades and that's a record for me. Well, I must confess, two were kids parades, that were held at my two daughters schools. If you don't already know, my oldest daughter teaches 1st grade and my youngest daughter teaches kindergarten. Here in Mobile, our children get involved in Mardi Gras at an early age. I can still remember my Mardi Gras float, that I made out of a shoe box for a school project, and that was back in the 60's. Well, I better go for now and get on my treadmill, been eating a lot of king cake around here lately.
                                             Happy Mardi Gras!!!!
                                                       Linda

Fun colorful floats parading under our beautiful
                                       old oak trees.
Mobile's Mardi Gras King and Queen!
I really love how this float is still
being pulled the old fashion way.
Here are the kids wagons, filled with
plenty of goodies for them to throw.
After two days of kids parades, I now know
the number one favorite item that they like to
                                       catch...stuffed animals!!!
We have a new grocery store in town, and
they opened just in time for the Mardi Gras
                                            season.
Oh my goodness, this is a family owned chain from
Louisiana, and we all know how good they cook there.

Mr.CC discovered their Praline Pecan King Cake,
and it love at first bite!!!
Since most king cakes look like this one. He was
really curious to try this praline pecan version.

After leaving church today, we headed over to
purchase our last one for this season. We were
both so disappointed that they were out of this
one, but that's okay, we purchased another one.
Yum Yum!!!
